The EWEA has published a report projecting that by 2020, the industry will contribute EUR95.4 billion to the GDP of the 27 EU's member states. That would be a three-times increase over the approximately 32 billion Euros made in 2010. Full Report here: Wind's contribution to Europe economy 'set to triple' I can't help but think perhaps the tide is finally turning and reports such... Read full post here

Fri, 16 Dec 2011 22:35:28 -0800 Ways To Become More Energy Efficient http://rupertforpahl.posterous.com/ways-to-become-more-energy-efficient http://rupertforpahl.posterous.com/ways-to-become-more-energy-efficient Many of us wish we could be energy self-sufficient. Imagine: no power bills! That's a goal many have, but maybe starting with increased energy efficiency is the best way to begin. There are plenty of ways to become more energy efficient. Here are some tips. The easiest, and most common, advice is to turn off things when they aren't being used. Turn off lights when you leave a room. Turn off or down the AC when you leave for work. Take quicker showers. That sort of thing is common wisdom. If you still want... Read full post here

Tue, 06 Dec 2011 04:35:43 -0800 Wind Energy Wind Power and Home Wind Generators http://rupertforpahl.posterous.com/wind-energy-wind-power-and-home-wind-generato http://rupertforpahl.posterous.com/wind-energy-wind-power-and-home-wind-generato When you think of wind energy these days it usually conjures up images of wind farms covering vast stretches of land, populated by enormous (and very expensive!) electricity generating wind turbines. As is often the case with "alternative" technology such as wind energy, your perception of that technology is often shaped and limited by the information you are provided with. Very often those sources of information have been to some degree manipulated to make that technology seem far more complicated and inaccessible than it really is. Wind power electricity can not only be easily understood by the... Read full post here

Wed, 23 Nov 2011 04:47:08 -0800 Wind Powered Turbines Advantages And Down Sides http://rupertforpahl.posterous.com/wind-powered-turbines-advantages-and-down-sid http://rupertforpahl.posterous.com/wind-powered-turbines-advantages-and-down-sid Transforming wind power into electricity is actually the purpose of wind turbines. If you picture a plane propeller resting atop a tall tower, this is exactly what a turbine looks like. Electricity is created by the generator, housed inside the turbine casing, when the rotor is spun by the wind. Inside the electrical generator are many magnets and a bunch of copper wire, which creates electricity. It is a rather easy system. There has to be sufficient wind to turn the blades for these power generators to make electricity. The average height for wind turbines is 30... Read full post here
